What do I need to take with me to college?

places to shop for inexpensive dorm stuff:

ROSS, BIG LOTS, ANA’S LINENS (SALES ARE REALLY GOOD!),

I would also recommend shopping clearance items or shop around the holidays for good deals

here’s a list of what my “essentials” when I moved to college:

laptop/computer

general school supplies (notebooks, binders, pens, etc)

telephone (or cell)

if you like coffee, a coffeemaker

personal hygiene products (shampoo, soap, lotion, deodorant, etc)

iron, blow-dryer, curler (if you use these)

sheets for your dorm bed

clothes, jackets/sweaters (look into the history of weather in the area you’ll be attending school)

storage containers, book case

mini fridge (if you want to keep small things, drinks for on the run mornings, etc)

If you are living in the dorms, you want the main things like:

personal items

some towels

tubs to store your things

blankets

pillows

alarm clock

CD player/radio

a mini fridge

snack foods

backpack (or laptop bag)

class supplies: pens, white out, notebooks, folders

Just shop the sale racks, and you will find all that you need throughout the year. You didn’t mention what your intended major is, but you may want to check with the program and find out if that program will require any extra costs.

dont follow those ridiculous lists they hand out at bed bath and beyond, thats for sure, but make sure you have your regular neccesities like personal hygene products, an iron, a mini ironing board, all your chargers for electronics, 2 pairs of clean sheets (extra long usually for dorm usage), lots of clothes for whatever season you’re in (try not to overdo this as dorm rooms are TINY little cells), and dont forget some of those under-the-bed storage containers for misc stuff. I recommend the bed-raisers too to give you more space underneath. Look online and youll find plenty of packing lists

i went to big lots for a lot of my stuff its a lot cheaper. just get what you absolutely need until you figure things out. throughout the year, you will discover what you actually do need. i made the mistake of buying too much and had all this stuff left over. make some lists about what you need and want, they will help too.

Wait until after the first day of school. Then go rack up on the markdowns. This is like holiday shopping, all the overstock and leftovers will go on markdowns.

for ur dorm go to Ross, they have really nice stuff thats cheap for u to use in ur room.
