SAT …help?
I have trouble with vocabulary. Like, when I look at the critical reading section, I understand what type of word should fit into the blanks, but I don’t recognize ANY of the words.
Any idea on how I can learn vocabulary? BESIDES READING. lol. I’m already doing that. About how many words should I learn a day? I can handle about 40 new words each day, and I have one year to prepare^^.
Oh and if you know any suffixes or prefixes that could help me figure out a word, I’d appreciate it =)
=D
Thanks if you answer!

If you pick up new languages quickly, it would be extremely beneficial to learn some Latin prefixes or suffixes. I have taken four years of Latin, and just from that vocabulary I am often able to guess words that I would not otherwise be able to understand. For instance, words beginning with “mal” usually have a negative connotation, since the word comes from the Latin word for bad. So think: malicious, malnourished, etc.
Other good prefixes might include:
– “a” or “ab”, which means from, away from, or by. So: abstain, affix, etc.
– “de”, which means from, down from, about, or concerning. So: debrief, delineate, delegate, defend, etc.
Hope that helped to get you thinking!
