Okay I am taking a nursing class and studying for that and according to the program, when I have completed it I can become a registered nurse straight out of high school. and i want to become a CRNA which is a certified registered nurse anesthetist..in other words a registered nurse that specializes in anesthestist.

are there any CRNAS out there? how did you get to that point? what schools should I look for..what classes should I take? etc..

Sorry, but you can not become a RN without completing a nursing program AND taking state boards. That can be 2 or 4 years. Classes taken in HIGH SCHOOL don’t meet that criteria. Taking one nursing class (which I presume is a CNA course) is not enough education.

A CRNA is an RN with a masters level education. You have to complete your bachelors degree (4 years) and then find a NA school that will accept you. You then have an additional 2 years of classes and clinicals.

EDIT: Three year programs do not exist anymore- and an LVN / LPN does not qualify for admission into a masters program for RN’s.

My sister-in-law is a CRNA, she sacrificed a lot to earn her degree, but it’s really paid off for her. She’s very successful & her son & family have some of the finest things. She earned anesthesist degree from Xavier in New Orleans. I’ve read somewhere that of all speciality nursing careers CRNAs are the highest paid, even more than Nurse Practitioners. Good luck, it’s a great field. If I had the financial resources, I’d do it myself. 2D

Never heard of that in my life. As a generally rule you have to hold an AA degree to become a registered Nurse or take an 12-18 month program to be an LVN.

As a general rule my understanding you have to take about 1-2 year post graduate training to get Nurse Anethetist

According to http://www.aana.com/

You need to have 24-28 months accredited experience which leads to an MS degree.

That means must already have a BA degree.

OK here’s the rules for the US

You must pass one of THREE programs.

A 3 year hospital based on the job training program that renders a diploma. Now I suppose you might be taking that concurrently with high school, I know of no law that prevents it.

The other two ways are the ADN two year Junior College program and the BSN 4 year college program.

After you complete any of these three programs you have to take the written test to become a RN.

Since 1998 in America has been required to get into the Nurse Anthestist program you MUST have an MS in Nurse-Anthestistits program from an accredited university.
