I expect that to have a clear lesson plan and not just make-up work as they go. I’ve had some bad professors in college because not only weren’t they organized but sometimes they just flat out couldn’t teach the subject (which is annoying especially when you’re trying to learn a language). I’ve had mostly amazing professors who like to listen to the opinion of the student and who make it clear what they expect out of you for the course. They’re the ones that, to me, make going to college a real learning and enjoyable experience.

You should not expect a good grade from you instructor unless you earn it. You should expect your classmates to be respectful of their instructor and to pay attention. You should expect your instructor to be expert in the subject matter of the course, prepared for lectures, organized as regards the administration of the course, and fair in assigning grades. Fair means that you are treated no differently from anyone else. Fair does not mean the exams are easy enough for you to get the grade you want even though you may lack talent or effort or both.
