distribute the x and the 8 to the x+6’s (x^2 +6x+8x+48)

combine like terms( x^2+14x+48)

factor (x+6)(x+8)

or you could just combine the x and the +8 (x+8) and multiply it with the x+6 (x+8)(x+6)

x(x+6)+8(x+6)

let’s divide it first to make clear..

x(x+6)

multiply x to (x+6)

x^2+6x

then the another one..

8(x+6)

multiply 8 to (x+6)

8x+48

then add both..

x^2+6x+8x+48

add like terms..

6x+8x=14x

x^2+14x+48

If you need still to factor this out..

it would be

(x+6) (x+8)

to check..

using (x+6)

x=-6

why negative 6?

cuz u’ve transposed 6 to the other side and it changes it sign..

x(x+6)+8(x+6)

-6(-6+6)+8(-6+6)

-6(0)+8(0)

=0

check!

and using (x+8)

x=-8

x(x+6)+8(x+6)

-8(-8+6)+8(-8+6)

-8(-2)+8(-2)

16+(-16)

= 0

check!

hope this helps!

or to summarize…

x(x+6)+8(x+6)

x^2+6x+8x+48

x^2+14x+48

(x+6)(x+8)

peace out!
