Can be many reasons.

1. Supervisor is not aware he is not delegating enough

2. He may not trust others to do the job right

3. He doesnt know the real role of being effective leader

4. Insecured about his job and doesnt want to teach and share knowledge

When a supervisor will not delegate authority it is because they are afraid of their own abilities.

Here’s my ugly response. Sociopaths.

There are some people that feel a need to control all situations. They don’t encourage individual ideas. They fear outside competition. It is this mindset that obstructs free thinking, free ideas for the sake of self preservation in the work force.

Myself, if you have an idea, bring it on. You want to do a task differently, go for it, but own up to it.

Most frequently, because they feel nobody is as capable of doing things as they are, or they don’t trust their subordinates enough to trust them with part of the tasks they have.
