We also see a Heirarchy that wants to control the World, at the Top of the Hierarchy is Satan. Therefore does not getting the Mark of the beast means supporting this Hierarchy itself, being part of this Hiearrarchy and away from God, away from the truth of Jesus. Now it was true for 1st Century Christians because, The hirarchy was the Roman Hierarchy, that wanted to control the people Keep them away from the truth of Jesus. It was true for the Martin Luther(The protestant church) because the hierarchy was, the Roman Catholic Church It is true for any secret societies today, because it is Again the hierarchy the top level of the hierarchy Want to Control those who are at the bottom. This means the Book of Revelation will be true in all ages, until the Kingdom of God Comes and until the Hiearachy exists. Why the hierarchy wants people to be marked, because otherwise it is a threat to the Power they are holding in the hierarchy. I believe the reason we are to preach the Gospel, to evangelise is not the fear of Hell, but to keep people from getting Marked by the World by the Mark of the beast, Everybody who has not come to the Light of the Lord is Marked by the beast.
