Pre-assessing is always a good place to begin – especially with adults, because you have no idea what experiences they have. Then, set objectives for your student. Next, figure out how you are going to assess that they have met those objectives. Finally, plan the sessions and administer formative and/or summative assesments.

I recommend assessing for readiness, because you could make a great plan of educational sessions , but the older adult could be unwilling or simply doesn’t comprehend the lessons.

Assess readiness.
