their is no chemical reaction in mixture, or when two or more components are mixed together and their is no chemical reaction in them, then that is mixture.

when two or more components are mixed together and chemical reaction takes place, i.e. a new compound if formed, which has entierly different properties than the mixed components.

mixture can be seperated physically. components in a compound cannot be separeted physically.

Pure gasoline is a combination of Hydrogen and Carbon atoms. It is a compound. Not a mixture of compounds. Of course the additives are another thing entirely.
