What is the best way to score higher on the SAT?

Keep practicing! Read more challenging material, the type of stuff you read in school. That’ll improve your grammar and vocabulary. I recommend The Scarlet Letter and 1984.

Use the practice tests to tell you what you need work on in the math section, and study the math material in a review book.

QUIT practicing taking the test. That’s like thinking you’ll weigh less if you keep getting on the scale.

LEARN something you don’t know. Do what someone suggested above. Analyze which sections are your worst. Get some instructional materials on those sections. Buy one of those SAT vocabulary novels and read it. Get news, science and business magazines and read them, seriously, as if you were going to be tested on the content. SAT passages are non-fiction, which schools don’t spend much time on. Practice your math, interpreting the question and reasoning your way through the answers.

Start taking more practice test after test and go over your mistakes. Also helps to go over a SAT Study Guide like Princeton Review’s. You should also study more vocabulary and start writing more essays and ask “smarter” friends to grade it from 1-12.

Keep practicing. Learn new words by readings lots of things.

On the practice tests, figure out which math problems you do poorly on and spend time studying in that area.
