Go to the teacher and talk to him/her. It will let the teacher know you are concerned and care about your grade. Have your teacher give you some advice on what to do and then do it. When they know you care …they seem to be a little easier on you. You can also look into getting a tutor and finding someone to study with.

Do the best you can first of all. Never give up. You can be successful at Biology. Just remember that. If you end up failing or receiving a low grade, take it over again after looking over your notes and studying the book or another biology textbook on your own. You can check out biology textbooks from your campus library. Seek resources on the internet, go to your campus tutoring center if they have it, seek a tutor (preferably an upper-classman Pre=Med/Biology/Science major who passed the course with at least a B or better) if you have the funds, be willing to pay him/her. Or just try to befriend a smart Biology major. Consider taking the course with another professor. Talk with the professor during office hours, take your quizzes or tests with you and find out what mistakes you are making. Reconsider your study habits. Buy a Cliff Notes or Biology for Idiots book. Hope it works out. Most of us have been there before…

Pair up with someone in class who is doing well, and test each other.

Find study guides at the bookstore or library that can assist in reinforcing areas you are struggling with.

Ask your teacher for advise on tutoring and additional assistance available through the school.

Stay focused and DON’T GIVE UP! You will succeed.

The #1 Way is to talk to your instructor. (period)

Most teachers are sincerely interested in helping student get good grades. He/she is the most knowledgable source of information on “how to pass” and “what to study”. Let your instructor know that you need additional help before it is too late. Can he/she help you during office hours? Is there on-campus free tutoring?

The teacher is typically the last resort of most “young” college students. In highschool, only geeks hang out with teachers, and the stigma lasts in college. However, all college courses are designed with the expectation that additional teacher time will be required.

You are the customer – you pay for the course and access to your professor. Go get what you need – NOW!!! (and good luck)
