Emo has transmogrified into “drama queen”. It used to refer to real punk rock fans and found it’s beginnings with a Minnesota punk band in the eighties known as Husker Du. Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance and similar bands are the prescribed “emo” bands for the kiddies today.

Well, it used to just be short for “emotional” but now it’s kind of transformed to a person who is fakely emotional, and just do it to get people to feel sorry for them, or pay attention to them.
