What does the PS at the end of a message stand for?

Pet peeve: NEVER write P.S.S. If you want to write something after the post script, you write P.P.S.– “post post script”. The other way just doesn’t make sense. 🙂

PPS: Post, Post Script
PPSS: Post, Post-Script, Script
and on
noun
1. a note appended to a letter after the signature
2. textual matter that is added onto a publication; usually at the end [syn: addendum]
postscript
1523, from L. post scriptum “written after,” from neuter pp. of L. postscribere “write after,” from post “after” + scribere “to write”
Post as in after the fact
“Script” describes the body of your letter.
Hence this note is post script (ps)
It is used to add a thought you have after writing the letter, an afterthought.
