Well, Syracuse has a pretty good academic reputation, but OMG it’s in Syracuse! That’s a real disadvantage. BU is located right on a main street in Boston, practically walking distance from Harvard, MIT, and about 30 other schools.

BU would not be a great place for someone who disliked the city, or for someone who wants a pretty rural campus or a small intimate school. But for someone who wants a busy city full of tens of thousands of students, it’s a good choice.

There are a lot of other great private schools that you should probably be considering that are roughly in this academic range – say, Fordham, American U, George Washington, Rochester, Univ of Richmond, William and Mary, Lehigh, not to mention all the excellent state schools.

Get out a map! Have fun!

Visit both! I love Boston, I’ve lived here since I was 7. BU’s campus is the city. If you don’t mind noise and you love the city, you’ll love it. It gets pretty expensive living in the city, but thats something you have to take into consideration. Cuse is a little more quiet. The campus is beautiful. It gets pretty cold in the winter though, so be prepared. Also, greek life at Cuse is more important, so if thats your scene – check it out. I seriously reccomend you visit both schools, but if you cant, do a little extra research on each school’s website to see what fits you better. Both are great schools, so good luck!

BU just appeals to me more. I have a cousin who went to Syracuse, and I have seen Boston. The costs of both schools are too high for me… but I feel like BU has more to offer, and it’s just a beautiful campus (last I saw… If it’s anything like my school, construction has taken over!)
