Mr. Mister

What do they mean in Psalm 23 when they say: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” ?

I’m wondering particularly about the “in the presence of my enemies” part. What enemies are being referred to, and why? What is the meaning and significance of this?

My foster brother (a Minister) once tried to explain litterally the 23 Psalms to me… his interpretation of that line was this…

To prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies would be to say, that among all, including my enemies, I am chosen by you (God) to recieve your blessings.

i believe it means that he will prove your strength to anything that might be your enemy, may it be people or obstacles. imagine being in a table with God , u and your enemy. Who would feel inferior? The one who has no power.. ur enemy. So God will prepare a way to reveal His power through you.

I think it means …God sets a table before us (when we accept God as our Shepherd and Host) as our enemies watch (our enemies see that we are God’s friend and guest).

At least that’s how I understand it.

i think that that certain psalm would mean that you say grace, and everything, like ask him to bless your food, and demons are all around us… that could be the answer…
