Favorite Answer
(1) Get good grades. Try to get more A’s than B’s
(2) Take AP and college prep classes when you can
(3) Do well on your AP tests
(4) Find a passion outside of class, something you love and can talk about to show your individuality
(5) Study for your SATs. Doing well is very important for getting into a good undergraduate institution.
(6) Show leadership inside and outside of the classroom. Colleges look for people who have already demonstrated they can be successful.
Good luck!
2. Consider taking science or math classes at a community college in the summer, especially between sophmore and junior year.
3. During your volunteering, ask the doctors for advice.
4. Read medical non-fiction. I’m reading Firlik’s Another Day in the Frontal Lobe, and it’s really good. So was Gawande’s Complications and Groopman’s How Doctor’s Think.
Focus on your sciences and have fun with your other courses. As long as you have completed the science requirements (and get great grades in them) you’ll do well.
Good luck! Oh yes, and focus on studying for your SATs now.
