what can i do after college?

i have 1 more year until i graduate from college, with a B.A. in both psychology and economics. i definitely want to do something (work, grad school, etc.). i’m extremely interested in pop culture.

– what kind of work can i get with these degrees (specific names of positions)?

– any specific graduate degrees i could go for, given my interests?

– what kinds of good international/abroad programs are there out there?

PLEASE LEAVE ANY HELPFUL LINKS. THANKS!

You are soon to graduate with a BA in Psychology and Economics and you’re interested in pop culture? Have you thought of an MA and PhD in Psychology and a professorship specializing in teaching and researching the psychology of pop culture? Or maybe an MA and PhD in Economics and a professorship specializing in teaching and researching the economics of pop culture? Or maybe you could go home to your parents and get a job asking would you like fries with that? Hint: Option three doesn’t seem like the most lucrative possibility.

First, find out something you want to do related to your interests — be it pop culture, psych or econ, or all three or whatever. Talk to people who do those things or something similar. Find out how they got to where they did. Interview for jobs that sound related to that — but you may have to take the DAY JOB to get by in life until you can eventually get to where you want to be.

NO MAGIC LINK TO YOUR FUTURE. Unfortunately, NOW the answers come harder. I mean, with psych, econ and pop culture, there is no relation, really, so FIND SOMETHING YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT and pursue it. Don’t let morons like me or other people chart your course.

I am suprised how many people REALLY think they can get life’s answers on Answers.

The best international program that you could enter is Federal Service. For profesional inspiration the US military forces. There are so many who could really use your knowledge to help their problems. Wives with problems and returning veterans from IRAQ and Afganistan.

Give it a lot of thought—I know it is not pop culture but that can wait…

I had a terrible time finding work with a psych BA and ended up doing customer service (complaints dept.) for a couple years until I went back to school to do something totally unrelated to psychology.

There are firms that track changes and trends in popular culture (for advertisers). Probably in NYC and LA.

With only a BA in econ, not a BS, what did you plan on doing when you decided on those majors?
