First off, any degree will improve your chances of making more money than the person without a degree. I’m not a performing arts major or anything, but I’m sure a degree in cinema studies will provide you with a sufficient background in the history of cinema. Maybe you’ll hook up with a director and work on a script together. Who knows. Being successful in the film industry also depends on where you live, the people you know, and the your personality. If you’re really interested in a cinema studies BA degree, I say go for it.

My brother has been in the “Industry” for 20 years as an actor and technician and has even had parts in “Death Becomes Her”, “Dune”, and “The Doors” amongst others. He got me several jobs as a set builder and even with a set caterer for TV and movies (they have to eat good on location)

You have to know SOMEONE to get any work in Hollywierd.

It really helps if your Jewish! I can’t emphasize this enough. Convert to Judaism and you got a chance.

Also, be liberal…very liberal like Loony Cloony or belong to a wacko cult like John Revolta or Tom Cruise.

My advice?

You’d be better off getting your degree in Business or Special Education…something of real value.

Remember Steven Spielburg…greeat fimaker but he got his “foot in the door” because he’s Jewish!

By the way, my Bro has a SAG card and spends more money on union dues than what he makes in Hollywood. He does a very popular night club tribute to The Doors and thats how he makes it modestly well. Though he would have done better if he was an accountant or service manager.
