The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Teaching ESL in NYC?
Hi all, I’d like to hear from folks who are working as ESL teachers in New York (City) what they think about their job/profession. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
I’m a recent college grad (B.A. English) and would like some insider advice on ESL education as a job or career.
Also, if I borrow (from bank credit-line) $2500 to pay for CELTA training, would I be able to recoup it (and repay the bank) with work?
My thanks in advance!

There is no bad or no ugly of teaching ESL in nyc. It is all good. NYC is as diverse as you can get, and the esl programs are spectacular. THere are so many non english speaking students in NYC, and immigrants that need people like you. Trust me, there is no better place than NYC. (okay i have to admit, the bad and the ugly might be your paycheck if you decide to work in a private place) And yes you would ofcourse be able to repay 2500 eaisly with work.
