Should new RN grads really work med/surg unit first year? Why not long term care facility? Or L&D?

It all depends on where you expect to be happiest. I started on a Pediatric Cardiology unit right out of school, and i have loved every minute of it. Sure, you can further refine your skills on a med/surg floor for the first year, but if you hate it, you wont learn much at all. Good Luck!!
