School Choices?
Say there was a girl who was really smart. She skipped a grade in math, was in honors english, and got strait A’s. Say she went to a private highschool, but she wanted to go to a public highschool for their Arts program. Say the public highschool was about 23 minutes away from her house and her parents didn’t want to move. Say one of her parents could drop her off on their way to work. Would she be able to go to the public highshcool she wanted to go to?

My daughter sounds a lot like you- smart and great at art. We had a hard time deciding on a hs between public and private. She’s always gone public and we ended up choosing the private school- ironically we have the public school only 1 minute away and the private one is 15 minutes. We weighed many options besides just the arts program, which we found the private school had AP art and the public didnt to overall academics which were comparable. We considered religion and morals, class size, teacher/student ratios, friends, athletics, cost, schedule type, …. Make a chart to compare all of the factors, have an adult conversation with your parents. Shadow the HS for a day if you can. Be glad your parents are involved in your decision. In the end, we let our daughter choose, but it was a decision we came to together! Good luck, it sounds like you have a bright future!

Say, here is an idea. Maybe the really smart girl should talk to her parents about this instead of a bunch of yahoos. You know, because, her parents have the final say about what school she attends.
And if she was really smart, she would pursue art as a hobby, and study math. It will actually get you somewhere in this very competitive world.

Absolutely not! Your private high school education is better on you university applications and a university art school is optimum if this is the field you wish to go into. Getting excellent grades in a private high school enables colleges to see your determination and hard work which will open many more doors (especially if you change your mind later)!
Be good to your parents, a public school is FREE so they must have their reasons other than they simply don’t want to drive you.
