SAT and TOEFL?

I am a nepali citizen living in the UK since October 2005 with my parents. I m goin to apply to US universities for Pre-Med programme. I have not given SAT or TOEFL.

Do i have to give both? Which is preffered the most? Also, which is most helpful for scholarships?

Please help.

Any general idea on applying to US for Pre-Med after high schooling(a-levels) from the UK would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If you are a native speaker of English (first language and that of your parents and culture), you will not need the TOEFL. This measures your ability to communicate in English. If you are not a native English speaker you will be required to take the test. I believe you will be required to take the test.

The SAT and ACT are standard entrance examinations that almost all colleges and universities in the US require (one or the other) to complete an application. Very high scores (nearly perfect) will make you available for some scholarships.

US colleges and universities weigh the entrance exam, your high school gpa, class rank and a writing sample to evaluate whether or not to accept your application for entrance.

Most foreign students have difficulty recieving financial aid, with high credentials or not. Be prepared for that.

Like all prospective students, you will be applying not to become a medical doctor, but a freshman with a pre-med major. Pick prospective schools that are strong in science and have good records of alumni attending medical school.

You will most likely have to take both the SAT and the TOEFL. The SAT is used for admissions and for scholarships (check fastweb.com for some scholarships). You will have to take the TOEFL if you are an international student whose native language is not English or you have been living in an English-speaking country for only a short while. Some schools exempt you from having to take the TOEFL if you have a high enough SAT English score. But just to be safe, take the TOEFL.

Some schools offer pre-med programs, but they are not necessarily majors. Get in touch with the admissions at the schools you want to, explain your situation, and take their advice. Good luck!

As a TOEFL instructor, i will inform you which you had greater advantageous commence getting waiting now. TOEFL ibt is extremely, very confusing, especially the speaking area and you may desire to coach for the questions earlier taking the examination. Few scholars get the score they want the 1st time they write the examination. you will get the addresses and extra counsel approximately testing centres from the ETS website – they’re the persons who administer the TOEFL.

if you are applying to any reputed universities, most likely you will have to send an SAT score…i am not sure about TOEFL though maybe u should just to be safe. but i would def. send the SAT because it is more commonly used by the admission officers. you can get scholarships only through the PSAT i believe. also take atleast 2 sat subject tests and aim for 750+ to be really competitive
