oxymoron question?

okay so I was wondering if an oxymoron has to be a word. like the bad Something Corporate. They dont have “corporate” songs. I know like Jumbo Shrimp is an oxymoron but is it the word thaths the oxymoron or like the word and the thing…? Idk im kinda confused.

Can the band Something Corporate be an oxymoron because the band isnt corporate?

I agree with the answer above.

The two or more words must conflict with each other, like for example at DQ they had “Frozen Hot Chocolate” Frozen and Hot conflict with each other because Something that is frozen cannot be hot. Jumbo shrimp is an oxymoron as well.

An oxymoron is an expression in which one part contradicts the other. An oxymoron can be a single word, such as sophomore, which means ‘a wise fool,” two words such as jumbo shrimp, or even a couple sentences, such as “I’m from the IRS. I’m here to help you.”

an oxymoron is when the first word is the opposite of the second one. The wikipedia definition:An oxymoron (plural oxymorons or more rarely oxymora) is a figure of speech that combines two normally contradictory terms.

I don’t think Something Corporate qualifies. An oxymoron needs to relates to both words. “Something” does not conflict with “Corporate” the way oxymorons are supposed to.

… I’m not positive, but my guess would be no. Oxymorons are literary devices… which means they have to do with words. An oxymoron is a phrase whose words are contradictory… Not necessarily because of what they are describing… If that makes sense… ? I’m really not sure tho.
