Online Classes?
It’s very expensive, but since I am a single mother who works full time Monday-Friday 7:30-5:30. I won’t be able to afford a sitter at nights to take regular classes. So it would be a lot easier for me to do it in the comfort of my home, while the kids are sleep.
Has any one ever taken online classes, if so could you please tell me the experience you went through, and it its worth it.
Thank you

Taking classes online may seem like a piece of cake, but in reality you have to be self motivated and you have to make sure that you can keep to your schedule. It’s very much like an independent study class, but on a much larger scale. 🙂
There might also be scholarships or grants that you can apply for that can help you pay for your education. I’ve included a link to “The Debt-Free College Guide” in the resources section. It might be able to help.
There are tons of colleges out there that you can enroll in to get your degree. Just make sure that whatever college you decide to go to is accredited. The last link that I have included would be a great place to at least begin your college search.
Good luck! I hope that some of this information has helped!! 🙂

2. If in doubt call the school you wish to attend after you have completed your online classes and see if they will take the credits. Many will but only at a percentage or they might have you retake some classes.
3. Make sure the online program is accredited through a proper accrediting association. Many of these schools are accredited by no one but some group they made up or through a membership in some fly by night outfit.
4. Be ready to put in MORE time for the same classes you would if you attended them on campus. The biggest reason why is that most of your communication will be through writing. And you will do so much more writing.
5. Not all online classes are covered by FSA so check with them before you sign a contract. Even if the schools says yes, that doesn’t mean all courses are covered.
The best place for books: eBay, Ammazon, Barnes and Noble
One thing that I’ve learned by enrolling in both traditional and online classes is, if you are taking a subject that is more difficult for you (like math, history or physics vs. art [painting])… you should take the harder course in a traditional setting. It’s much easier to obtain help if you need it.
When taking online classes you MUST have focus, motivation and time management skills. It is VERY EASY to fall behind. You have to set aside time everyday to dedicate to your classes and you must like working individually on projects. It’s not that easy to “make up” missed quizzes, etc. thru on online offering.
All the best!
+Make sure you set aside at least 6 hours a week to a class, do all the reading etc.
+Its done on your time, but there are deadlines. A lot of people who do online classes in the classes I’ve been in forget assignments or don’t care.
+If you’re good in independent studies, I highly reccomend it.
Depending on the course of study, there still may be scheduled obligations like conference calls, group chats, and things that you may need to have someone to watch the kids while you participate.
Other than that, based on my experience, my only advice is to keep your course load light. Just because you’ll be working at home, doesn’t mean you wont get overworked and overstressed pretty quick, especially if you overcommit. Good luck:)
