OK, so I have two questions about CA State schools?

I’m looking at Hayward specifically, but info about any of the other States would be helpful too. So basically, by the end of my senior year, I will have taken the AP Exam for Biology(3), Spanish(5), Calculus BC(?), Pyscology(?), Literature(?), and MAYBE Language (?). If I assume that I pass all the AP exams I take, will Hayward State (Cal State East Bay) award me full credit for all of these? If so, would it be possible for me to transer to a UC later, as soon as possible, as a junior, but only go to Hayward for less than two years?

I don’t necessarily want to go to a state school because my grades, SAT scores, and extra-curriculars should be able to get me somewhere better (sorry I’m not trying to sound conceited), but it would be cheaper. Also, if this all works out, I might be able to transfer early.

Basically I want to be able to use all my AP classes to my benefit, but at a college that is affordable and that will let me transfer to hopefully UC Berkeley later.

Thanks.

You will have to get in touch with CSU Hayward to see what their policy is on AP Testing for college credit.

If you want to transfer between a CSU and UC, you need to be careful. Unless something has changed, UC Schools are on the quarter system, and CSU Schools are on the semester system…which means that some courses may not transfer directly. In some cases you may need to take a 2 course sequence at a UC school to satisfy 1 course at a CSU.

If you are sure you want to go from a CSU to a UC, talk with an advisor at CSU Hayward to let them know your intentions.

Also, why not go to a Community/Junior College for two years instead? It will be cheaper yet, and will get oyu the same education you would be getting at the 4 year level. There are plenty of choices for you to choose from in the Bay Area in regards to Community/Junior Colleges.
