is their alot of math in a PhD program for clinical psychology?

i know that you have to do alot of research but i was wondering if their was alot of MATH involved? because i was thinking that maybe most of the classes had to do with experimental design and not so much hardocre mathematics. and if their is alot, would you say it is particularly diffuclt math? is it more difficult than algebra (thats all ive taken)?

Clinical psychology will require you to take a few statistics courses. Those courses probably won’t be more difficult that algebra. Stats is a different kind of math and now there are computer programs (e.g., SPSS) that do all the math for you. You just have to learn about which statistical tests (e.g., t-test, chi-square, etc) are appropriate to measure what you are researching. Then, you tell the computer to run the test and it does the math.

The easiest way to look at it is this: if the college admits you into the PhD program, they are sure you can complete the program. So, don’t worry about the math. I have never seen or heard of anyone failing out of a PhD program because they could not learn stats.
