Not if you have the determination to go back. I dropped out of college in 2001 because I was simply tired of school. After a few years of dead end jobs, I realized if I want to make a decent living I’ll have to go back to college and get a degree. So in 2004 I went back and I’m still taking classes now. Everyone told me, if you drop out, you’ll never go back. Well I proved all those people wrong.

No, and I’m living proof. I stopped for a year, realized that there was no way I’d get a decent job in the field I was interested in without a degree as well as an advanced degree, and so I went back and finished up a bachelor’s then went on to complete a masters.

In many cases this does happen. It’s typically very difficult for people to find the time to go to school and hold a full time job. But not always. I went back to college after 10 years and also completed my M.S.

Statistically, yes. Most people who drop out don’t go back. However, there are exceptions- people who take a break to get their ducks in a row, then go back.
