If 37 is 12.6 percent of the total population, how do I find total population? (without actual answer, please)
If there is any way I could just find out mathmatical process, that would be fantastic. Thanks…

Replace the word “is” with = and “of” with x
37 is 12.6% of TP becomes
37 = 12.6% x TP
solve for TP

Set up a proportion – if x is the total population, 37/x = 12.6/100. Multiply 37 by 100 and 12.6 by x so it comes out as 12.6x=3700. Divide both sides by 12.6 and you should get the answer.
37 goes on the top because it’s a part of the population, not the total population.

Well, multiply 37 by the percentage, .126, and you’ll get how much 1% of the total population is. Multiply that by 100, you’ll get your answer.
Or, you set up a ration. 37 over 12.6 = x over 100. Multiply 37 and 100, then devide by 12.6. You’ll get the same answer.

Divide 37 by .126 (the decimal equivelent of 12.6%) and you will get the total population

Divide 100 by 12.6 and multiply 37 by whatever comes out.

Let total population be p people, so, since
37 = 12.6% of p, then
1% of p = 37 dividedby 12.6, so,
100% of p = 37/12.6 times 100.

37 is 12.6 % of the total population means
37 = (12.6/100) * TOTAL
so,
TOTAL = (37 *100)/12.6
total = 293.65

37 is (=) 12.6 percent (.126) of ( * ) total population (P)
so, 37 = .126P
P = 293 people

The 12.6% should be 12.5%, otherwse the answer is not an integer number, and the problem would not make sense.
0.125 x Population = 37
Population = 37 / 0.125 = 293

you would have to set it up as a proportion. 37 over x equals 12.6 over 100 and then cross multiply. after you do this, then you have to divide and check your work!
