I wanted to look into fashion design as a major.?

It’s definately a do-able career, but it’s highly competitive. It helps to make as many connections in school, and get as good an education, as you possibly can. You would do best getting into the best fashion school possible.

But no matter what fashion program you attend, make sure you do internships and co-ops while you go to school. You need that experience, and the connections you make, plus a super portfolio in order to get your first job in this field.

The two best fashion design schools in the US are the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parson’s School of Design, both in NYC. You can start with their web pages and see where that takes you. The Rhode Island School of Design also has a strong design program. You can also find design programs at places like Cal State – Los Angeles, Concordia (California), and perhaps even at your own local state university.

Fashion can be offered at an art school, like Parsons, or at a broader university, like Cal State LA. You have a lot of options in terms of type of school, but again, do your research. Go to a reputable program.

Fashion design is a popular major, and there are a lot of schools out there that I’m concerned about. So be careful, and go to somewhere reputable. Again, the schools I mentioned are good places to start.

I think you should follow your heart and dreams. If you want to be a fashion designer (or major in fashion) then by God do it. I f your father isn’t proud of you then well there isn’t much you can do about it.
