I’m currently studying at a community college with future hopes of attending Law school…?

Recently, I got accepted to Fordham’s undergraduate school. Should I finish my undergrad at a public college and then transfer to Law school, or just take out a loan now to finish my undergrad at Fordham?

I’d finish out at a public college. I went CC->Public College->Top 14 law school. It’s not that unusual–at least the public college to elite law school part.

That’s really a personal decision. Keep in mind that law school is VERY expensive. My SO just got out of law school and, with no undergraduate loans, he is almost 200k in the hole. If you don’t have a trust fund and you aren’t staying home with mommy/daddy/grandma, you have to factor in your living expenses too, because you can’t work for the first year, and you can’t really work the second year either: you should have an internship, maybe paid, the second year but the decision on that should depend on how prestigious the internship is, not how much it pays. You might get a paying job, with permanent possibilities, the third year–that’s it.

Being at a community college now will probably have no effect on your chances at law school, unless you do something that makes you appear to be an unsafe bet.

You have a great chance of getting into any (dream) law school from any undergraduate school if you work really hard, get good grades and have good test scores. You will get into a law school in your chosen area if you have good test scores.

Personally, however, I wouldn’t pass up an invite to Fordham if I didn’t already have a better offer. They will help you do whatever you decide to do.

it really doesnt matter as long as you maintain a good 3.0+ gpa. itd be better if you could do it at a better school but many community college students choose to transfer to state schools then go onto to grad/law/med school.

u should watch out tho. alot of friends tell me their grade drops when they trasfer sayin that community college is a joke compared to public schools such as tcnj, rutgers and nyu.

Yes I’d vote for doing well in a course of study at a public university and not load yourself up with debt.

Good luck.
