hugs? HELP! PLEASE!?
so, when ever i finish taking to 2 of my favourite teachers, (not during class) I hug them. But its not like a quick hug. it like a long hug. and its not a weak grip. and once i was going through a troubled time, and i hugged the teacher for like 2 -3 minutes. what do you think she would think?

teachers dont mind children hugging them but they dont really like it. ( just from knowing my teachers.) but a quick hug is okay, its kinda weird when a kid you hardly know hugs you for 3 minutes at a time. it make them feel awkward

I don’t think there is anything wrong with hugging a teacher or a teacher hugging a student. Sometimes that hug is the only positive affection the student gets that day. Unfortunately with all the creeps out there, it can be scary for a teacher to hug a kid. I can’t believe “most teachers dont like hugging kids” –I just can’t believe that. I know there are those who prefer to be mean…had my share of them growing up. I never ever ever thought about hugging one of my teachers. I am going to be doing my student teaching in the fall and I am a touchy feely person naturally. If one of my kids wants to hug me, I will hug them back. When I was subbing long term–the school finally hired a teacher for the position–when I said good-bye to “my kids” a couple grabbed me and hugged me—I didn’t expect it and it surprised the heck out of me—but I hugged back. It was one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given.

There’s nothing wrong with hugs. I hug my students all the time. It’s not possible to teach if you can’t show emotion. I realize that there has been lawsuits, etc. but if the children feel I don’t care then I have lost that class for the rest of the year. I hate that there are teachers who are afraid to hug their students. There’s an old saying: “Students don’t care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

Like a good teacher she is compassionate and understanding and she was once a young girl herself and she has experienced times when she needed to be hugged and to hold onto someone I believe she totally knows what your feeling and she just wants to be there for you I think shes a great lady and I clap my hands at her for be a good and loving teacher some are not very kind at all.

hugging may be your thing, and your teacher may not care, but keep in mind that it is a professional environment for him or her. and if someone was to see you guys hugging and not know the situation….well we’ve all heard the teacher and student stories before. thats how it can be taken.

2-3 minutes wow, how refreshing……i would love to get long lasting hugs…not the short curtsey prim and proper fomality hugs……
as long as they are not more than a hug for comfort and console i see nothing wrong …….don’t change a thing…sweetie
