How do I become a teacher in Illinois?

I have a bachelor’s degree and I’m going back for my master’s in the fall. Do I have to do student teaching like you have to in undergrad? My school advisor isn’t much help…

I am in the process of doing the same thing as you. I had an undergraduate major in psychology. Thus, I am getting my masters in education along with the teaching certification. This means that you have to student teach for a quarter/semester.

You also have to pass the Illinois Basic Skills test and any subject test (like Math, Science, etc) if you are teaching secondary.

If you are getting your secondary certification, you also have to have a major in that subject area (or the equivalent of a major in number of classes).

You will probably also have to complete a master’s thesis to complete the masters portion.

Before you can get your certification you also have to pass an Assessment of Professional Teaching test.

Go to http://www.icts.nesinc.com/ for more info on the tests.

Probably like most other states.

1-Have a teaching degree

2-Be state certified by passing a few exams

3-You may be hired if you promise the chosen school to get a Master’s Degree in teaching within a specific time interval.

thank you to your posting. If Illinois regulation is something like California regulation, the respond is many times sure. in spite of the shown fact that, it relies upon on some information with regard to the unique DUI. If it became a criminal (in many circumstances ability loss of life or great actual harm), then there must be a huge problem. The coaching credential fee treats DUIs regarding drugs extra harshly than alcohol DUIs. And, if there is information of dependancy, it particularly is a difficulty.
