how can i talk my parents into saying yes to a catholic high school?

im 14 and i will be a freshman in hs. i dont want to go to the public high school in my area due to the teachers and most of my family has had somewhat trouble there. theres this catholic high school, aquinas or (AQ) that looked very nice, and my cousins husband went there he liked it. i already got accepted from the placement exam, my parents are just spazzing out about the costs. my mom is most likely going to say yes, but my dad is spazzing out and swears and screams at me whenever i bring up the subject with him. my grandpa went to this school, and it would be some of his left over money that would be paying for it. how do i talk my parents especially my dad into going, i know about the costs but its really what i want to do right now. and, can you say your good experiences with catholic high schoools???? pleaseee just help me

I went to a Catholic HS, even though I am not Catholic. I have a four month old daughter whom ideally will go to a Catholic High School as well.

I had a great experience, and although I did not enjoy all the rules and structure at the time, I have come to appreciate my time there. I give a lot of credit to my success to my four years there. I graduated C um Laude from college and I know it was a breeze because of the preparation I had in HS.

My family sacrificed a lot for me and my sister to go there (since we were not Catholic, it was a lot more expensive than it was for my classmates), but I know they think it was worth it in the end. I think you have to appeal to your father that this is really an investment in your future. If he relents, don’t give him an opportunity to second guess himself – make the most of the experience.

do some research about the average ACT or SAT scores for local public schools and the catholic school…construct a comparison chart…remember that universities award scholarships based on those scores and gpa…my daughter goes to a catholic hs because I did but also because the ACT score for a honor graduate at the local hs is the same ACT score that my daughter made in the 7th grade and that honor graduate’s ACT is 8 points lower than my daughter who graduated from the catholic school recently. The average ACT for the local hs is 10 points lower than my oldest daughter scored and 6 points lower than my youngest scored in the 7th grade.

I would be CRAZY to send my kids there.

Call the school and ask about the following:

tuitition payment options

do they have a discount for volunteering at the school – ie help at events (i know my school has clean up time once per week)

talk to your parish about any scholarship activity that you can be a part of. My parish has a highschool scholarship program and offers approx. 250 towards tuition.

A Catholic education will provide you with the following:

– discipline

– knowledge of God / religion

– a sound education

– less money for “play” clothes – you wear a uniform

good luck

Children do best in an environment where they feel successful and safe. If you are living in a home where your dad (protector) screams & swears… he seems like a lost cause… & nothing like the father I grew up with.

I think you need to zero in on your mom & grandfather & see if they can “float” the $ to attend the private school with your promise to earn extra $ on the weekends, vacations and the summer to pay them back. Also talk w/the school counselor & ask about scholarships and jobs @ the school.

growth growth, to have come contained in the time of the flaws which you have already survived, you’re truthfully faraway from a failure. except, you degree fulfillment as somebody who liquids, abuses people who’re weaker, sleeps around, and then will pay lip provider to the community church so that they experience stable it incredibly is. You for sure have not lived all the way down to those standards. draw close in there youngster. bypass forward in existence and teach your mothers and fathers what you’re created from. some day, they could very properly open their eyes and comprehend what they tried to toss out with the trash. Easy, talk to them in a calm voice. Tell them everything you know about it. If they still say no talk to them seprate. Then combine why they said no and make an explanation of why you think that they are WRONG!
