How can I get a small student loan (2,500) without a co-signer?

I don’t have any credit established and no one in my family has good credit? There has to be something I can do, right?

Fill out a FAFSA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) You might be qualified for grants, if not you can take out a federal student loan. They are much better than any private loan you will find.

Hope this helps

Best way is to establish your own credit. I suggest you hold off school for a couple of years until you do. Find a job and keep it. I’m assuming you’re old enough to move out; find roommate(s) you can trust and rent an inexpensive apartment. Live there and keep up your rent and bills for at least a year. Creditors will see that you are responsible with money by doing that. Next step is to try to get a small loan for a car; by now you should have established some credit by renting an apartment. Get an inexpensive and reliable car and make monthly payments. Make sure you’re always on time and make at least the minimum payments. In about 2 to 2 1/2 years you should be able to take out a student loan on your own. I know it’s a long process but, hang in there. Just remember creditors only lend money to those that show they are responsible with money. When they lend you money, they are making an investment in you; they trust you to pay them back.

Another option is to get help from the military by enlisting.

Nope. If you have no credit, you will need a cosigner. But remember….a cosigner doesn’t have to be a family member. It can be anyone.
