“Here’s my question: my son will be graduating next year and wants to go to a college in another state, one where his father lives. Is there a way for him to enroll in the community college in the state that his father lives, as a resident too? I know his school records will show that his schooling and residence for the most part was in a different state, but am wondering if the fact that his father lives in the state that the college is in, will save us some money. Thanks!”

If he’s still a minor, he can use his father’s address as his permanent address, and most likely get in-state tuition. Double check with the school to make sure though, as the requirements vary from school to school.

I would check with the school as to the residency requirements. He needs to apply using his fathers address as his permanent address, and he needs to have that address as the address of record on SAT/ACT as well.
