OH Boy! College time!

I am goign to graduate ina few months with my masters, so I got the scoop on what college is all about. Take a seat. And take this all in….

College is the MOST FUN time in your life. You are in an environment with everyone who is going throught the same thing as you- same problems, same lifestyle pretty much, same worries, same hobbies. If you open up you make tons of friends- AND unlike highschool there is next to no drama!!! People are growing up and realize drama is silly. There will be parties and movies and the mall and FREEDOM to do WHATEVER you want WHENEVER you want to!!!

BUT- wham!!! Given all this freedom you have to know when to party and when to study.

This will hit you hard girl! You have to grow up FAST. You need to know how much time you have to study, you have to focus more then ever, the work is hard, it won’t kill you hard but you suddenly do not have mom or dad to tell you to do HW, you have to do it and motivate yourself- if you fail you just wasted alot of time and more importantly $$$$$$$$. In HS you can fail and just do again, in college you fail and they boot you out! So you have to focus. There will be parties galore and you have to learn to say no if you have a test. You have to learn to be careful too- drugs, alcohol, sex, crimes- it is all out there and no one will shelter you. You have to be careful. You can have fun but now you are an adult and no one will get you out of trouble so be safe and reasonable.

All in all, you will grow up fast, the hw will be hard but most not even as tough as HS believe it or not, and you will make friendships that last a life with no drama people. These are important years, so have some fun but remember how you do here determines how much $$ you will make when you get out- if you do well in college you will have $ to buy a sweet car, house, clothes, you name it. If you do poor- you will ask”would you like fries with that” for many many years.

I just finished my first year as a biochemistry/pre-med major at a 4 year university. during the summer I take extra classes at a community college and transfer the credits over so I can get done faster. My first year of college was interesting. I realized a lot of people are rude, but at the same time, I realized there are also many good people too. You just have to find the right people you want to get along with and hang out with and you will become very happy. I love my major and you will meet some awesome people, especially if you stay on campus because you will be able to participate in all the campus activities. The professors are usually smart and cool people. I really enjoy going to college because I know I am doing something productive. You can join clubs, and volunteer and just hang out with friends at any time of the day. There is a lot of hard work involved, but in my opinion if you are a hard working, it won’t be too hard if you stay on top of the work. I really think college is a great life experience for those who can go. So enjoy your life at college and have fun shopping for dorm stuff if you are going to live on campus. I think you will like it, just know who your friends are and stick with a good crowd and every year you will meet new people through other people. Best of luck to you!
