If you have to solve 2-(-4) first [you would know this because of brackets around these numbers] then you would have 6 to the power of three divided by -3. That answer would be 216/-3 which equals 72.
This all comes down to order of operations. PEMDAS…you can remember this by saying “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally” but it really means Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
[2-(-4)]^3 / -9+6
=[2+4]^3 (as – x – is equal to +) / -9+6
=6^3 / -3 (as -9 + 6 = -3)
=216 / -3
=72 / -1 (as we cannot divide further we reciprocate i.e interchange the denominater with the numerator and -1 means reciprocal)
= 1 / 72
(2 – (-4) ^ 3) / (-9 + 6)
or
([2 – (-4)] ^ 3) / (-9 + 6)
or something else?
it makes a difference..
