First question, find the slope. slope is change in y value/ change in x value.
In this example, the change in y value is 5 – (-3) = 8
The change in x value is 0
the slope is 8/0 (undefined).
Second question: The slope of the orginal line is 12/6, so the slope of a perpendicular is -6/12 = -1/2

The slope is how much the line changes vertically over the horizontal change.
Given the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2), the slope of the line passing through the points is (y2-y1) / (x2-x1).
Given a line with slope a / b, the slope of a perpendicular line is -b / a.
