Take the lyrics of the songs into consideration. Try and relate it to some incident or habit you remember about your children. Open your introduction by narrating the incident and then a line from the lyrics. This might bring fond memories in many minds and smiles on many faces and give the occasion the personal touch it deserves.

The above answer is a pretty good one.

Many people struggle with writing, but if you outline what you need to say, you’ll find that the necessary information leaves little room for fluff. This is good in your case, because you don’t seem like you have a knack for it, which is fine.

So, make yourself an outline and just write what’s necessary. Then, after that initial draft, add some flair to it to make your child feel like your personal flavor is shining through. Just have fun with it. These are your children, and you should be able to come up with volumes of things to say about them.

Just introduce the song, say who composed it, what year it was written, perhaps what genre, introduce your children. Like say basic, general stuff relevant to the performance.
