Do I have a chance of getting into D.O. medical schools with a 21 MCAT score and a 3.18 GPA?

If you are majoring in B.A., your GPA is pretty low. If you have a summer to catch up, take many easy courses as you can and bring ur GPA up.
If you are majoring in B.S., your GPA is pretty okay but try to raise to 3.25 ish and your MCAT score needs to be higher though to about… 25 to be safe.
FYI: average Osteopathic Medical school will expect you to have MCAT total scores of 24 or more and a GPA of about 3.5 or more (a higher GPA can compensate for a lower MCAT and vice versa).
However, don’t loose hope if you have an outstanding experineces and recommendations, maybe they might over look at it.
Lastly, if D.O. medical schools doesn’t work for you, you should apply to physician assistant, Podiatrist (DPM), and Chiropractor with your degree. Especially with physician assistnat, they are in neeed and only takes two more years after graduation. You should defiitely look for more options just in case.
Good luck in your future and hope this helped!! 🙂
You may wish to explore going to one of the Caribbean medical schools. The top four-five offer very good educations and the lesser quality schools will still provide you with an acceptable education if you have the self-discipline. You can go to ValueMD.com or StudentDoctor.net to learn more about the schools and talk to current students.
You will then see how you stack up against the typical student that gets in at each school and you will know if you can submit a competitve application to them.
If you can’t find the information, then you should contact the schools you are interested in applying to. They should all have information like that readily available.
Good luck!
