Cant get college financial aid/loans due to high EFC?
I filed my FAFSA and my EFC is so high that I cannot receive any financial aid or loans. I live in New York and I have been on my own sice 2004 – I live on a different address and all my bills, rent and car insurance are on my own name. I file my tax returns separately. My parents have loans that they are repaying back and they are NOT contributing to my college. How can i prove that i am not receiving any funds and apply for a student loan?

Are you declared a dependent on your parents tax forms? If not, you can probably qualify as an independent student which may give you more financial aid options. Good luck!
I have never seen someone who didn’t qualify for a loan. Make sure you talk to someone in the financial aid office at the school you are attending. They may know of other options.
You should talk to your financial aid officer for more information/guidance!
Good luck!
