You could do it, but you would have to want to do it.

Or why not do a day worth of school in the morning, and then after lunch work on so more or another day worth and you can finish twice as fast.

With Connections Academy they will send you the next years books and things, so you don’t have to sit there with idol hands. You would have to really love learning and have the want to do it.

Wow, no way! I’m homeschooled and by 1:00 p.m. I’m done with school and I get to have way more free time! I’ve played baseball, soccer, I did gymnastics for three years, and I’ve done several productions with my local homeschool group. It’s fun being homeschooled! Have any of your friends that say that homeschooling is boring ever been homeschooled? Plus, a lot of my friends (homeschooled) go to a youth group with tons of kids their age, so they meet many new people and hang out all the time. There are so many ways to have a fun homeschool experience! Hope you get to homeschool, good luck and God bless!! 🙂

Of course it is possible.

It is not a situation where you say “oh, I’m homeschooling so I will only work until noon, no matter what”

Homeschooling is a situation where you look at what you have to do, compare it to when you want to be finished, both daily and yearly, then adjust your schedule accordingly.

High school students may have a more difficult time adhering to a daily schedule of finishing by lunch than a jr.high or elementary aged student, but it is do-able, depending on the motivation factor of the child.

So, to answer your question, no, your daughter’s friend is not lying to her, she will receive a quality education, and you do not need to worry about her.

But if you would like to know more about homeschooling, there are plenty of resources on the web.

We routinely have our schoolwork done by lunch. We usually have plans for the afternoons, so the kids know if they what to do the other plans, they need to finish the schoolwork in the morning.

Keep in mind that unlike a public school setting, the child can move at their own pace. They do not have to wait for the rest of the class to catch up to move on to a new level or topic. Public schools are notoriously inefficient. Homeschooling is usually extremely efficient.

Yes, absolutely.

Think about how much of a school day is spent taking attendance (especially in high school/middle schools, where they take it every period), changing classes, settling down, passing out/collecting things, copying things off boards, etc– cut all that out, how much time do you think the learning actually took?

Plus, when you’re homeschooled, you go at your own pace. Things generally come quicker when you’re working on them alone, without distractions of others or delays due to others. You don’t have to get repetitive– once you’ve got it, you move on.

You can

And if you work til dinner you can get into Harvard at the age of 15 or 16.

It’s a choice you make.

I recently covered TWO WEEKS worth of College Undergraudate ORganic Chemistry in one afternoon.

It really depends on the age of the child, and how motivated the child is to learn quickly. Younger kids need less time with organized academics, and more time for hands on exploring. High schoolers will spend more time on the core academics if they are headed to college, and are learning to apply critical thinking skills as part of their education.

My daughter is home schooled and the requirement is 4 hours a day. If she works at it she can certainly be done in 4 hours. If not it takes longer.

I suppose if you started early (7 a.m.) in the morning you could be done by then. Plus, it depends a lot on the grade. High school takes a greater time commitment for online education.
