Can you go back and get a high school diploma after getting a GED?
I had to quit school when I was pregnant with my daughter, against my own wishes. i need to get a job but I have to have atleast a GED but I really want my high school diploma. I won’t have the money to go get the high school diploma until I get a job. Anybody that has info on this situation please let me know! Thanks ya’ll!

I think it all depends on your school and how they would handle it. I don’t see why you couldn’t and look up to you for wanted to. Good luck with it.

It depends. In most states, students have the right to an education until the age of 21. However, compulsory education laws also say that you only have to attend school until the age of 17. Your high school has the right to deny you admission if you will not meet their graduation requirements before turning 21 and/or if your past behavior threatens the health, safety, and welfare of those in school (though it doesn’t seem as though the latter is the case). I would contact your high school’s guidance department and see if you could speak to a guidance counselor. Perhaps your school offers alternatives to the traditional classroom setting that would enable you to earn your diploma prior to turning 21. I wouldn’t make any decision until you speak to a guidance counselor just to weigh your options. This is a big decision. However, it sounds as though your daughter has a great role model since you obviously value your education! Keep in mind that a GED is NOT a diploma— it is considered an equivalent to a diploma but doesn’t truly have the same significance of a diploma. Good luck!

Well, perhaps you might be able to do it through an online program or some alternative program, but I don’t think you can enroll in a regular public high school to finish your classes (unless you really aren’t that old). It would be easier to just get your GED. There’s no real point in getting a high school diploma if you can get your GED.

My friend’s husband paid to get one online. They have you take an exam and then they calculate your scores in many subjects. It’s an accredited school so most colleges accept that degree. If you are interested, shoot me an email and I will find out the name of it.
Congrats on wanting to educate yourself, great example for your daughter!!! 🙂

As far as I know it depends on the school you are trying to go back to. I would check with the school district that you live in.

Honestly, probably not. Get your GED, work and go to college part time. It will be tough, but you can do it.
