anyone take AP chemistry?
how hard is the test to pass?
i’ve taken several other AP classes and am planning on taking AP Chem next year as a senior (among 3 other AP classes)
problem i’m concerned about is that i am jumping right into AP chem without having first taken Any even Normal chem class… but i’m reading a lot of the book this summer (what the teacher said)… my brother is the one who suggested i just jump into it because honors was harder at my school. but i don’t really have a clue what i’ve gotten myself into. i usually just get 3’s in all my other AP tests and that’s with a Lot of work..

I took AP Chemistry as a sophomore without having taken a normal chemistry class beforehand, and I got a 5 on the exam. To me, it was one of the easiest tests I’ve ever taken. I also got a 5 on all of the AP exams that I took, though. The test isn’t hard if you study, but a lot of it depends on the teacher. My teacher had 60 AP Chemistry students, and every year, more than 40 would get 5’s, so again, a lot of it depends on your teacher. AP Chemistry tends to be an especially hard class, but if you work, you can still do well in it. I think that if you really put yourself into it, you’ll do just fine, especially now that you’ve had experience with other AP classes, and you’re now a senior. It sounds like you’re willing to put in the work because you’ve already begun studying, so I wish you good luck.

i havent personally taken AP chem, but i’ve heard a lot about it from people who did take it. i hear that if you don’t really have any introduction to even basic chemistry, the class is tough. but also, it depends on your teacher. if your teacher decides to review the basics, THEN go on to the rigorous stuff, then it should be fine. a lot of work, but it might pay off in the end!

i heard its really easy. but at our school, you need one year of chemistry to enroll in it, and chemistry honors does a good job of preparing us. its okay. they say its just review of chem honors. good luck, its gonna be difficult not knowing any chem before.. you should just try to get ahead. like use the first few chapters of your textbook or something. plus, you can get like only 50 right on the multiple choice on the new format AP chem test and still get a 5. thats what ive heard.
