Buy a bunch of SAT prep books from Collegeboard.com, Princeton Review, or some other brand and just read all the tips they give you on test-taking for each section. Then take A LOT of practice tests (time yourself) and score them after you’ve finished. Go over what you missed…and just keep doing practice tests/problems. Good luck!

SAT Prep Courses help only if you are willing to work very hard and study on your own time, but it’s not necessary but certainly does make it a bit easier for you. You don’t need SAT Prep Course to help you do well on the SAT.
Assuming that you don’t take SAT Prep Courses,
it would be best that you borrow many different kinds of SAT Prep Books and work on the problems and definitely take practice tests to see where you stand at. To get a more accurate standing, you might be interested in using College Board Blue Book. Those can be borrowed from the library or bought at collegeboard.com . If you keep working problems and practicing, you should be able to get where you want to be. Good Luck!
