Raffi is a wonderful writer and performer of songs for children, and most children LOVE to sing along with Raffi. I would suggest you get some Raffi recordings (CD’s, cassettes, or videos). The children will catch on quickly to these very popular songs. He also performs in at least one other language (I’m trying to recall what I have on my CD’s and I think some songs are in French). Other songs that should be included are probably popular in a lot of different cultures, like Happy Birthday, The Eensy Weensy Spider, I’m a Little Teapot. I would teach songs like that in a variety of languages and let the kids choose what language to sing the song in! “What language shall we sing Happy Birthday in to Mary today?” Some John Phillip Sousa for marching would be fun too!
