My goal is to teach world history at the community college level. Do I need to major in History or can I major in something else like International Studies or Global Economics, etc.

I would say History only and some sort of minor. I’m teaching it in high school right now, and I majored in History, Secondary Education. All I need to do is go back and get my MA in History and I can teach at a community college level. A lot of people start out with the high school route just in case.
Good Luck!

You could major in any of the tracts you have listed as long as you have an educational focus. Just remember that limiting your major limits your employment opportunities.
If you major in broad-field social studies, you will be a more “hire-able” candidate. It gives you a wide range of opportunities for choosing your classes. In addition, it is a comprehensive major, so you would not need a minor.

Yes, major in history, and tie in international studies with it.
You might get away with being a international studies major with a history minor, but discuss that with academic advising at your school.

You should major in education and your targeted subject area. Take courses in related areas to round out your knowledge.
