What insect is this?

I was building a house in Tijuana, Mexico. (The city right across the border). We were out in some dirt hills and we found this insect near the building site. It was orangish-brown with brown or black stripes on it’s back. It’s back looked like that of a boos while it had large, thick, long legs. It had what looked like pincers on it’s triangular-ish head. The whatever it was could not climb up the side of the glass jar we put it in. It had two black eyes with two long thin antennae. I have never seen anything like this before in my life, and everyone there was amazed! What insect is this? If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

Here is a URL to a few pictures I took of the bugger.

(sorry the last pic is really blurry)

It looks like some kind of ANT. Like a border crossing job stealing, smelly worker ant.
