I’m a college student working on my schedule for the fall and was wondering what a Journalism and Mass Communication Intro course entails? Has anyone taken it? What was it like? What did you do? I need it for degree requirements. It’s this or Speech, which I rather not do. Thank you. : < ]

Introduction to Journalism and Mass Communication is probably a survey course. Intro courses/survey courses are usually difficult because they tend to cover a lot of information, and usually information that is new to you.
I have taken a similar course. We looked at the media from a historical perspective, communication theory, and the social functions and effects of the communication industry in the US.
No, this is not a speech class so don’t worry, however, if this is a limited-enrollment course, you may be required to do a presentation.
Also, you may want to look at ratemyprofessors.com to get an idea as to what may be required in the course and how the professor who is teaching it, teaches it.
