I was just wondering, why do people cuss? It doesn’t make you sound smart if you can only say 5 letter words.

but the usual euphemism for cussing is “4-letter words”. you must be really smart to think of 5-letter ones!

I saw a documentary on the word ***** and i think they had a good answer for this. Cussing can be a release and i think they are even more of a release because they are suppose to be taboo. I can easily express myself with more than four letter words but, sometimes it feel more powerful and satisifying just to cuss.

I personally don’t curse because I don’t really think its classy or necessary in most situations.

I feel like some people just curse for the sake of attention.

Frequent and common use of expletives shows a limited vocabulary and lack of education about refined behaviours. Some people have never known anything else and so for them this is normal.

some people cuss to get another persons attention,…. others because of habit, … And others use it to accentuate the fact that they are mad.
